Policies

Listed below are MSFC's policies on Abortion Training, Confidentiality, and Privacy.

MSFC Policy on Abortion Training

Every medical provider will have patients who have had, currently want, or someday will seek an abortion. And physicians who do not do abortions often have patients call them with questions following an abortion obtained elsewhere. They should know how to address the patients' concerns knowledgeably and comfortably.

MSFC encourages medical schools to include the following in their curriculum for all students:

  • didactic instruction on the public health, social and historical context of abortion;
  • medical and surgical abortion techniques;
  • pre- and post-abortion management; and
  • pregnancy-options and contraceptive counseling.

In addition, every medical school should provide students the opportunity to observe abortion procedures, including pre-abortion counseling.

MSFC Confidentiality Policy

Providers of abortion services live with the threat of oppositional violence every day. As a result, the identities of those involved in Medical Students for Choice must remain strictly confidential. Student names will only be given to other student activists and known pro-choice physicians, clinics, and organizations.

MSFC is committed to keeping the names and contact information of everyone in our database, including students, residents, physicians and supporters, private and confidential.

MSFC Privacy Policy

Medical Students for Choice is committed to preserving your privacy and safeguarding your information online. In fact, if you choose, you can visit our site without ever telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself.

The following statement provides a full disclosure of how we collect and use information on our website.
