Abortion Training

MSFC believes that medical students and residents should have the means to obtain clinical exposure to abortion care. We support abortion training by providing these three resources to medical students and residents: funding for a Reproductive Health Externship, supplying a catalog of abortion training host facilities, and maintaining a list of residency programs that integrate abortion training.

About the Reproductive Health Externship (RHE) Funding Program
The Reproductive Health Externship (RHE) Funding Program is an excellent opportunity to receive training in abortion techniques and patient care in a clinical setting. The primary goal of the RHE is to fund students’ and residents’ efforts to obtain clinical exposure to abortion care. The long-term goal of this program is to ensure that abortion becomes a standard part of women’s reproductive health care by increasing the number of medical students who receive abortion training and intend to provide abortion care in their future practices.

The RHE Funding Program is open to any medical student or resident currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited medical school or residency program in the United States or Canada. Accepted students qualify for a stipend to cover the costs associated with participation in the externship. To learn how to be accepted into our funding program, please click here.
